Rachel Sennott Hails ‘I Love LA’ as ‘Entourage’ for Online Influencers
The new HBO comedy series, “I Love LA,” brings a fresh perspective to the iconic city of Los Angeles. Creator and star Rachel Sennott highlights key local landmarks like the Silver Lake Reservoir and Erewhon, asserting their importance in the narrative. “I love to walk the res and yap with my girls, so to get that into the pilot was awesome,” she remarked during the show’s premiere.
About “I Love LA”
This series follows a close-knit group of friends reuniting in Los Angeles after years apart. The ensemble cast includes Odessa A’zion, Jordan Firstman, True Whitaker, Josh Hutcherson, and Leighton Meester.
Inspiration Behind the Series
Sennott described her personal experiences moving to L.A. during the COVID-19 pandemic as a significant influence for the show. She expressed feelings of isolation and vulnerability during that time. “In your early 20s, you and your friend group are all together, and then people start going off on side quests,” she shared. “I needed everyone to be here with me; please don’t leave.”
According to Sennott, “Entourage” served as a major reference point in creating “I Love LA.” She explained that the team envisioned the series as “Entourage for internet it girls.”
Cast Insights
Josh Hutcherson, who plays Sennott’s boyfriend in the show, praised the authenticity of the script. “It’s rare that I read something and I’m constantly laughing while reading,” he stated. Hutcherson particularly celebrated the series’ depiction of the Silver Lake Reservoir, emphasizing its beauty despite its typically harsh surroundings. “To see that in a beautifully shot way is remarkable,” he added.
Leighton Meester, who plays Sennott’s boss, humorously described her character in the series as “a woman in her 40s who chews loudly and coughs while talking on the phone.” She expressed excitement about taking on such a unique role.
