The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is set to launch the Rising Stars T20 tournament on November 14 in Doha, Qatar. This competition promises to showcase some of the best emerging talent in cricket.

The opening match will feature Pakistan taking on Oman. Notably, the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan clash is scheduled for November 16.

Group A: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka
Group B: India, Oman, Pakistan, UAE

This tournament has evolved from its previous incarnation as the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. It will feature ‘A’ teams from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, as well as full squads from the three Associate Member nations: Hong Kong, Oman, and UAE.

Tournament Dates

The tournament will run from November 14 to November 23, with two matches scheduled daily. The semi-finals will occur on November 21, culminating in the final match on November 23.

Historical Context

This tournament marks a significant moment as it will be the first face-off between the men’s teams of India and Pakistan since their encounter in the Asia Cup in September. Previous matches were marred by a lack of sportsmanship; the Indian team left Dubai without receiving the championship trophy.

Since its inception in 2013, the ACC Emerging Teams tournament has seen six editions. Initially held for Under-23 teams, it has transitioned to focus on ‘A’ teams.
