A Harvard University police officer responded to a fire alarm at the location. Upon arrival, the officer noticed two individuals fleeing the scene. The officer attempted to detain them before proceeding to investigate the source of the alarm.
Inside the building, the officer discovered evidence of an explosion on the fourth floor. Subsequent investigations by the Boston Fire Department’s arson unit concluded that the blast had likely been deliberately set.
