T’Pau Devastated by Equipment Theft on Way to Hitchin Concert
The renowned band T’Pau has been left distraught after a significant theft occurred while en route to a scheduled concert. The lead singer, Carol Decker, expressed her frustration and disappointment over the incident that forced the band to postpone their performance in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.
Incident Details
On the evening of the intended performance, T’Pau was set to entertain fans at Club 85. However, disaster struck when band member Pete Faint was robbed at a service station on the M25. Faint had briefly parked at South Mimms and locked his car. Unfortunately, upon returning, he discovered that crucial band equipment had been stolen.
Stolen Equipment
- Suitcase
- Laptop
- Keyboards
- Backup equipment
Carol Decker highlighted the devastating impact of this theft, stating, “He’s lost everything.” The quick nature of the crime left the band speculating about the presence of organized theft groups in the area.
Impact on the Concert
The cancellation of the concert is a blow, not only to the band but also to their fans. Decker mentioned, “I’m gutted for the crowd, really gutted for Pete.” Efforts to find replacement equipment and a keyboard player proved challenging due to high demand on the same night.
Insurance Concerns
While Pete Faint is insured, much of the stolen equipment is specialized and irreplaceable. This includes unique foot pedals and complex musical kits that are essential for their sound. Decker noted that the theft has impacted multiple upcoming shows.
Future Plans
The band is actively working with their agents to reschedule the concert. Club 85 confirmed that all purchased tickets will remain valid for the new date, which will be announced shortly. They also reassured ticket holders that See Tickets will communicate updates soon.
