The Prince and Princess of Wales have officially moved into Forest Lodge, a historic estate that is 328 years old. This relocation comes after living in Adelaide Cottage for several years, during which time their children enrolled at Lambrook School.

During the children’s half-term school break, the royal family settled into their new home. Forest Lodge is a Georgian mansion built in the 1770s and acquired by the Crown Estate in 1829. Notably, this estate is considered a “forever home” for the couple, remaining their official residence even after Prince William ascends to the throne.
Features of Forest Lodge
- The lodge features eight bedrooms, a significant increase from the four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage.
- Extensive renovations have been completed recently to modernize the space.
- The last significant updates to the lodge were made in 2001.
Despite the upgrade in living space, the royal couple intends to maintain a streamlined household staff. They plan to keep their full-time nanny, Maria Turrion Borrallo, alongside select housekeepers who will remain with them.
Historical Significance
Forest Lodge has served various purposes throughout its history. It functioned as the residence of the Deputy Ranger of Windsor Great Park until the 1930s. Princess Anne reportedly considered moving in during the 1970s, although that plan never materialized.
