49ers Injury Report: Aiyuk Sidelined, Pearsall’s Status Uncertain
The San Francisco 49ers have several updates on player injuries and expected returns, affecting their lineup’s dynamics. Head coach Kyle Shanahan provided insights on the team’s current status following recent injuries.
49ers Injury Report: Aiyuk Sidelined, Pearsall’s Status Uncertain
Mykel Williams’ Torn ACL
Mykel Williams has been diagnosed with a torn ACL and potential lateral meniscus damage. Shanahan expressed disappointment for Williams, emphasizing his belief in his potential impact on the team. Despite the setback, Shanahan remains confident about Williams’ recovery, stating, “His career will be fine from it.”
Replacing Williams’ Production
The 49ers will need to account for the 66% of snaps Williams managed during the first half of the season. Shanahan expects Keion White and Clelin Ferrell to fill this void effectively. He noted their strong performance even before Williams’ injury: “Keion definitely shows a lot of inside rush potential.”
Bryce Huff’s Anticipated Return
Bryce Huff, who missed two games due to a hamstring injury, is expected to return this week. Shanahan highlighted Huff’s previous dominance as a pass rusher against the Falcons, noting that his role may expand due to the team’s current edge rusher shortage.
Jake Brendel’s Participation
Shanahan is hopeful that Jake Brendel will be available to play against the Rams. “We’ll see on Wednesday,” said Shanahan, referring to Brendel’s required evaluations. Brendel’s experience could enhance the offensive line’s performance, especially compared to backup Matt Hennessy’s recent struggles.
Aiyuk and Pearsall’s Availability
- Brandon Aiyuk remains sidelined, recovering from a torn ACL and MCL injury sustained in October 2024.
 - Ricky Pearsall’s status is uncertain, with Shanahan stating the team will evaluate him daily.

The 49ers are mindful of the wide receiver situation, as trading Jauan Jennings seems unlikely given their current depth issues. Jennings has been a prominent figure in the recent games, playing 52 of 66 snaps in Week 9.
As the team continues to navigate these challenges, the focus remains on optimizing player availability and performance heading into their next matchup. The 49ers must adapt swiftly to ensure they maintain their competitive edge.
