Overnight Fire Damages Calgary’s Bridgette Bar
A fire caused significant damage to the popular Bridgette Bar in Calgary’s Beltline neighborhood early Tuesday. The Calgary Fire Department reported that the blaze began around 1:40 a.m. and affected several areas of the restaurant.
Details of the Incident
When emergency crews arrived, they observed visible flames and smoke emanating from the back deck of the restaurant. Firefighters quickly responded to contain the fire.

Fire crews successfully controlled the flames using hoses. Upon inspection, they discovered a locked storage area beneath the deck. To ensure the fire was fully extinguished, they broke the lock and assessed the damage.
Extent of Damage
The fire primarily affected a washroom and a private dining area at the back of Bridgette Bar. Fortunately, there was no substantial structural damage to the building.
Injuries and Safety Measures
- Injuries: One firefighter sustained minor injuries.
- First Aid: Provided at the scene.
No patrons or staff were present in the restaurant during the incident. ATCO and Enmax personnel were also called to manage utility disconnections as part of the safety protocol.
