After the game, Cronin reflected on his team’s lackluster showing. “There’s so many mistakes,” he stated, emphasizing the team’s defensive failures. UCLA allowed 38 points in the paint and opponents shot 53.7% from the field. Cronin noted, “If you think you can give up 53.7% in your own gym and have a good year, you have no chance.”

Defensive Struggles

UCLA’s defense was plagued by issues. Cronin pointed out failures in adhering to the scouting report, ineffective pick-and-roll defense, and poor post defense. “Those are all coaching issues,” he remarked. Despite some individual efforts, such as Jamar Brown’s eight deflections, the overall performance was insufficient.
