Background on Joe Tryon-Shoyinka
Joe Tryon-Shoyinka was initially selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Earlier this offseason, he signed a one-year contract with the Browns.
During his time with Cleveland, Tryon-Shoyinka recorded nine tackles over eight games. His prior statistics with the Buccaneers include 138 tackles, 15 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
Bears’ Defensive Strategy
The trade comes in the wake of the Bears losing defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo to a torn ACL in Week 9. This necessitated the need for additional depth at the position.
With Tryon-Shoyinka joining the team, he adds to a defensive line that already features Montez Sweat and Austin Booker. The Bears are seeking to enhance their pass rush capabilities in light of recent injuries.
