Raiders Engage in Trade Talks for WR Jakobi Meyers
The Jacksonville Jaguars have made a significant move to bolster their receiving corps by acquiring wide receiver Jakobi Meyers from the Las Vegas Raiders. This trade comes as the team has been dealing with several injuries among its wide receivers.
Trade Details for Jakobi Meyers
On Tuesday, the Jaguars traded fourth- and sixth-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft to the Raiders for Meyers. As of Tuesday afternoon, the trade is pending a physical examination.
Meyers’ Career Overview
Jakobi Meyers, 28, is a seasoned NFL player with seven years of experience. He had been with the Raiders during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, compiling 33 receptions for 352 yards without any touchdowns in seven games this year. Meyers previously spent four seasons with the New England Patriots after going undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft. During his career, he has recorded:
- 426 receptions
- 4,944 receiving yards
- 20 touchdowns
Recent Jaguars’ Challenges
The Jaguars’ need for a receiver has intensified due to injuries. Recently, rookie Travis Hunter was placed on injured reserve because of a knee injury. Additionally, veteran Dyami Brown suffered a concussion in Sunday’s game, while second-year player Brian Thomas Jr. left the field with an ankle injury.
In response to these challenges, the Jaguars signed third-year wide receiver Austin Trammell from the practice squad. They also activated fourth-year receiver Tim Jones for Sunday’s game.
Active Roster Impact
With the addition of Jakobi Meyers, the Jaguars now have six wide receivers on their active roster. This move is expected to enhance their offensive capabilities as they navigate the ongoing injury challenges.
