Coliseum Complex, Spurs Arena Props Await Nov. 4, 2025 Election Decision
The upcoming election set for November 4, 2025, will decide the fate of two vital propositions in Bexar County. Both propositions are connected to a proposed San Antonio Spurs arena in downtown.
Key Propositions for Spurs Arena
Proposition A focuses on the preservation of the current home of the Spurs at the Frost Bank Center and the adjacent Freeman Coliseum. This proposition seeks to allocate an estimated $192 million to $198 million for transforming these venues into year-round rodeo grounds.
This funding will come from two primary sources: a 5% car rental tax and an increase in the Hotel Occupancy Tax to 2%.
Funding for the Downtown Arena
Proposition B aims to finance the construction of the downtown Spurs arena, contingent on voter approval. It proposes the same funding arrangement as Proposition A, utilizing the car rental and hotel taxes.
If approved, Bexar County will commit up to $311 million, accounting for 25% of the arena’s cost, whichever amount is lower. The entire project is projected to cost approximately $1.3 billion. Additionally, the county has already accumulated $48 million from previous tax revenue.
Potential Outcomes of the Vote
