Democrats Allred and Talarico Highlight Endorsements as Crockett Targets Texas Senate Race

Campaign endorsements are currently shaping the race for the Texas U.S. Senate seat, with notable support for two prominent Democratic candidates. Former Congressman Colin Allred of Dallas is receiving backing from Fort Worth Congressman Marc Veasey. Meanwhile, State Representative James Talarico of Austin has garnered over 100 endorsements from various figures across the state.

Endorsements Boost Allred and Talarico

Colin Allred expressed gratitude for Veasey’s support, stating, “I think the folks who are supporting me recognize that we have to build a strong ticket.” This endorsement signals a united front in challenging the Republican incumbent, John Cornyn.

In addition, James Talarico highlighted the breadth of his endorsements. “We’ve earned the support of public officials all over Texas, from El Paso to Beaumont,” he noted. However, two individuals on his list reportedly claim they did not endorse him, which a campaign spokesperson attributed to an error.

Crockett’s Potential Entry

Amid these endorsements, there are discussions regarding U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett from Dallas potentially entering the Senate race. The outcome of polling will determine her decision, reflecting the competitive landscape of the Democratic primary.

Crockett’s supporters have initiated text polls to gauge her viability in the upcoming election. Some preliminary surveys have indicated she could perform well if she runs.

Challenges Ahead for Democrats

Despite the excitement among Democratic candidates, Talarico cautioned about the uphill battle facing Democrats in Texas, where no statewide races have been won in over three decades. “I welcome more competition in this primary,” Talarico added, emphasizing the need for a strong collective movement.

Allred voiced similar sentiments, stating, “The real opponents are not other Democrats, but someone like John Cornyn, who has been in Washington for two decades.” He criticized the current political leadership, stressing the need for change.

As the race progresses, the winning candidate from both the Republican and Democratic parties will face off in November 2026, making the upcoming primaries crucial for shaping Texas’s political landscape.
