Fans of MotoGP in the Algarve are invited to a free event titled “Acelera Portimão.” This gathering is scheduled for November 7-9, 2023, at the International Circuit of Algarve. The event will begin at 2:20 PM on the day of the Portugal Grand Prix, offering a unique opportunity for motorcycle enthusiasts.

The Portimão City Council emphasizes that “Acelera Portimão” aims to celebrate the spirit of motorcycling and foster community among fans. The initiative promises a variety of activities, including:
- Autograph sessions with riders.
- Exhibitions featuring cars and motorcycles for photo opportunities.
- Giveaways from the racetrack and various promotional partners.
- A lottery for approximately 30 passes to watch the race during the weekend.
Highlight of the Event
A major attraction will be a parade of riders along the waterfront, covering about 300 meters between the Old Fish Market and the Praça Manuel Teixeira Gomes, also referred to as “Casa Inglesa.” This parade is particularly significant as it may mark the farewell of Miguel Oliveira from this category of motorcycle racing.
About Miguel Oliveira
At 30 years old, Miguel Oliveira is the first and still the only Portuguese rider competing in MotoGP’s premier class. He is expected to transition to the World Superbike Championship starting in 2026. This potential farewell adds an emotional touch to the event for many local fans.
Transportation and Accessibility
Attendees with tickets can travel to the circuit for free via public transport from November 7 to 9. The municipalities of Portimão and Lagos are collaborating to ensure regular connections to the venue:
- Public transport will operate without breaks from 8 AM to 12 PM.
- Return services will be available between 4 PM and 6:30 PM.
Designated parking will be provided in Portimão at Estrada da Rocha and Rua Calçada da Fonte in Figueira, promising convenience for all attendees.
