Todd Snider Cancels Tour Following Difficult Salt Lake City Weekend

Americana musician Todd Snider has canceled his fall tour following a difficult weekend in Salt Lake City. The announcement was made by his record label on November 3, 2025, after a series of alarming events unfolded during his scheduled performance.

Todd Snider’s Canceled Performance

Snider’s concert at The Commonwealth Room in South Salt Lake was meant to occur on November 1. The cancellation came just minutes before attendees were to enter the venue. The circumstances surrounding this decision have been unclear.

Assault Incident Details

A statement posted on Snider’s social media indicated that he sustained severe injuries following a violent assault outside his hotel. His label announced that he would be unable to perform for an unspecified time due to these injuries.

On November 2 at approximately 3:40 p.m., South Salt Lake police were called to investigate an assault involving a 59-year-old man at The Commonwealth Room. However, details regarding the incident remain limited, and the police emphasized the lack of clarity around the events.

Police Investigation

The Salt Lake City Police Department initially found no record matching Snider’s name. However, they later confirmed interactions with him on Sunday afternoon. Snider had flagged down a passerby, requesting help from law enforcement and claimed he had been beaten and robbed the previous night.

When officers arrived, he described being mugged at the venue where he was supposed to perform. Reports indicated that he had already received medical treatment for head injuries and left another hospital with staples in his head.

After asking the police for transportation to a hospital where he could sleep, Snider encountered difficulties. He was eventually discharged but refused to leave, resulting in a confrontation with hospital staff. He was later booked into the Salt Lake County jail on Sunday evening but was released the following day without bail.

Tour Status and Recovery

Originally, Todd Snider’s tour commenced on October 31 in Englewood, Colorado, marking its second stop in South Salt Lake. Plans included stops in Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, and Montana over the next two weeks.

Despite the cancellation, Snider’s publicist confirmed that he has received treatment for his injuries and is expected to recover fully. Todd Snider, known for hits like “Alright Guy,” “Beer Run,” and “I Can’t Complain,” has been a staple in the Americana and blues music scene for over thirty years. His latest album, “High, Lonesome and Then Some,” was released shortly before the incident on October 17.
