“Jesus Christ Superstar Takes the Stage at The London Palladium”

Jesus Christ Superstar will return to The London Palladium this summer, featuring a renowned rock opera score by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. This iconic musical showcases powerful songs such as “Gethsemane,” “Heaven on their Minds,” and “I Don’t Know How To Love Him.” The production recounts the last weeks of Jesus’s life, emphasizing his relationship with Judas Iscariot amidst the rising tensions before his crucifixion.

Production Details

Originally released as a concept album in 1970, Jesus Christ Superstar made its Broadway debut in 1971, followed by a West End opening in 1972. The show was last performed in London at the Barbican Theatre in 2019 and is set for a regional tour in 2024. A revival featuring actor-musicians took place recently at the Watermill Theatre in Newbury.

Director and Creative Team

The upcoming production at The London Palladium will be directed by Tim Sheader. He previously directed the show at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2016 and 2017. Sheader collaborates with a talented creative team:

This limited 11-week run will take place from June 20 to September 5, 2026. Tickets will be available for presale on November 25, 2025, at 10 a.m., followed by the general sale starting on November 26 at 10 a.m. The lead casting for this anticipated return has also been announced, adding to the excitement surrounding the revival.
