Jack Whitehall’s Louvre Heist Jokes Disappoint Audience at Monaco Show

Jack Whitehall faced a tough crowd during his recent performance in Monaco, where he attempted to incorporate humor related to the recent Louvre heist. The incident involved the theft of £78 million worth of jewels from the famed Paris museum. Whitehall, 37, hosted a prestigious jewellery awards event in the Principality and made jokes about the heist that fell flat.

Jack Whitehall’s Louvre Heist Jokes

During a Friday episode of The Graham Norton Show, Jack Whitehall recounted his experience. He expressed surprise at the audience’s reaction and admitted he felt he “died on (his) a*” after the audience found his comments disappointing. Unbeknownst to him, a prior speaker at the event had described the robbery as one of the most tragic events for the French people.

Unfortunate Timing

Whitehall reflected on how he attempted to engage the audience. He donned a high-viz vest and wielded prop jewellery while asking if anyone wanted “Napoleon’s tiara.” The audience’s silence was palpable, leaving him to realize that referencing the heist five times was unwelcome, akin to a disruptive announcement in an airport. He described the experience as “horrendous.”

Current Projects

Aside from his less-than-stellar performance, Jack Whitehall is currently starring in the Amazon Prime Video series Malice. In this series, he plays an antagonistic male nanny, a role quite different from his previous work. He noted that the series has a vibe reminiscent of The White Lotus and The Talented Mr. Ripley.

While filming Malice, Whitehall was simultaneously navigating parenthood. He had a two-year-old daughter named Elsie with his partner Roxy Horner, and was in the process of hiring a nanny. He joked that his “intense questions” for potential nannies reflected his new responsibilities as a father.

On Set Experiences

Jack Whitehall shares the screen with David Duchovny in Malice. Interestingly, Duchovny did not recognize Whitehall initially, but became excited upon discovering that Whitehall’s name appeared as an answer on the British TV show Catchphrase during their filming together.

Viewers can catch The Graham Norton Show, where Whitehall shares more insights into his career, airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Friday, 7th November, at 10:40 PM.
