A tragic incident occurred at the Grand Canyon on Thursday when a 65-year-old man fell 130 feet to his death. This unfortunate event took place around 2 p.m., prompting a swift response from local authorities.

Incident Details

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call to assist the Hualapai Nation at Guano Point. Upon arrival, they discovered that the victim had slipped and fallen over the edge of the canyon.

Recovery Efforts

Search and Rescue teams promptly located the man approximately 130 feet below on a scree pile. A scree pile consists of loose, broken rock fragments that accumulate at the base of cliffs.
