Brazilian UFC Debutant Stars in Hollywood Film
A rising star is set to make a mark in the UFC this Saturday, October 8. Max Gimenis, a skilled jiu-jitsu practitioner, is scheduled to debut at the Fight Night event at the Apex in Las Vegas, USA. Gimenis also has a unique background in Hollywood filmmaking.
Max Gimenis: UFC Debut and Hollywood Connection
Gimenis is not only a fighter but has also dabbled in film. He was considered for a role in the movie “The Smashing Machine.” His casting was largely due to his resemblance to Mark Kerr, a former Pride and UFC champion.
Although Gimenis did not land the main role, he was invited for a cameo. He stated, “I was told that I look like Mark Kerr. I auditioned for a part where I was supposed to play Fábio Gurgel, but it didn’t happen. However, I was called to make a guest appearance in the film.”
The Fighter’s Journey
Originally a jiu-jitsu expert, Gimenis transitioned to mixed martial arts (MMA) in 2022. At 32 years old, he boasts an impressive record of six wins out of seven fights. Remarkably, all his wins have come via knockout or submission.
This Saturday, Gimenis will face American fighter Josh Hokit in the heavyweight division. Like Gimenis, Hokit is also making his UFC debut after maintaining an unbeaten streak of six fights in MMA since 2023. Both fighters successfully made weight at the recent weigh-in ahead of the Fight Night.
Personality Inside and Outside the Octagon
Gimenis is known for his vibrant personality, which he believes is essential in the heavyweight category. “I’m quite funny and enjoy entertaining fans. Those who want to follow me on Instagram will certainly have a good time. I aim to bring that energy into the UFC,” he added. He admires heavyweight fighter Valter Walker for his humor and light-hearted nature.
