Novak Djokovic Sets Record for Most Hard Court Men’s Titles

Novak Djokovic has made history by setting a new record for the most hard-court titles in men’s tennis. He achieved this milestone on Saturday by defeating Lorenzo Musetti in the final of the Hellenic Championship, held in Athens, Greece.

Historic Win at Hellenic Championship

Djokovic triumphed over Musetti with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, claiming his 72nd hard-court tournament title. This win surpasses the previous record of 71 hard-court titles, jointly held with Roger Federer.

Career Achievements

With this latest victory, Djokovic has also secured his 101st career title, ranking him 11th in men’s tennis history. He is now just two titles shy of tying Federer for 10th place with 103 titles.

Grand Slam Records

At 38 years old, Djokovic holds numerous records in Grand Slam tournaments. He leads with:

  • 24 Grand Slam titles
  • 37 finals appearances
  • 53 semifinals appearances
  • 64 quarterfinals appearances

Fourteen of his Grand Slam titles have come from hard-court surfaces, including a record 10 at the Australian Open. Although he has not won a Grand Slam title in the last two seasons, Djokovic continues to be a dominant force in men’s tennis.

Injury Updates and ATP Finals

This year, Djokovic reached the semifinals of all four Grand Slam tournaments, including one final in 2024. Following his victory at the Hellenic Championship, Djokovic announced on Instagram that he would withdraw from the ATP Finals due to an ongoing injury.

This decision allows Lorenzo Musetti to take Djokovic’s place in the eight-man field for the ATP Finals, scheduled to be held next week in Turin, Italy.

Djokovic expressed pride in his recent achievement, noting the intense nature of the match against Musetti: “An incredible battle. Three hours of a grueling match, physically. … I’m just very proud of myself to get through this one.”
