New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani has announced key appointments in his administration. Dean Fuleihan will serve as his first deputy mayor, while Elle Bisgaard-Church has been named chief of staff.
Key Appointments in Mamdani’s Administration
Dean Fuleihan brings over 40 years of governmental experience. He previously held the position of budget director under former Mayor Bill de Blasio. During his tenure, he managed a budget exceeding $100 billion and worked in various roles within the state Assembly for more than three decades.
Fuleihan’s extensive background makes him well-suited to support Mamdani’s agenda. His team describes him as “battle tested and ready to serve on day one.”
Elle Bisgaard-Church: Chief of Staff
Elle Bisgaard-Church, who served as Mamdani’s chief of staff in the state Assembly, will assume the same role at City Hall. She played a pivotal role in Mamdani’s primary victory, helping him navigate a competitive political landscape that included prominent figures like Andrew Cuomo.
Described as a “chief architect” behind the Department of Community Safety, Bisgaard-Church is noted for her bold progressive vision. She emphasized her commitment to driving meaningful change within the city government.
