LeBron James Set to Train with Lakers’ G League Team

LeBron James is set to train with the South Bay Lakers, a G League affiliate, this week. This practice session comes as he readies for an exceptional 23rd season in the NBA. Los Angeles Lakers’ coach, JJ Redick, made the announcement ahead of the team’s matchup against the Charlotte Hornets.

Training Plans for LeBron James

Initially, Redick mentioned that James would be “literally practicing with South Bay today.” However, the Lakers later clarified that the practice would occur later in the week due to the South Bay team’s scheduled day off on Monday.

Current Status and Recovery

As of now, James has not participated in any practices or games with the Lakers this season. He is dealing with sciatica issues that arose near the beginning of training camp. The team has not provided a timeline for his recovery, and James has largely refrained from speaking to the media since the media day held in late September.

Lakers Season Overview

  • The Lakers currently hold a 7-2 record, despite facing injury concerns.
  • Key players, including Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, have also been affected by injuries.
  • Reaves has returned to play against the Hornets after missing three games due to a hamstring injury.
  • The team is presently engaged in a five-game road trip.

Following a disappointing loss to the Atlanta Hawks, the Lakers prepare for their next home game against the Utah Jazz on November 18. James is not expected to join the Lakers during this road trip.

Historic Milestone Approaching

When LeBron James eventually plays this season, he will set a new record for the most seasons played in NBA history. He began his illustrious career in October 2003, just months before the birth of Bronny James, his eldest son and a current teammate.
