Colin McRae’s Daughter Debuts in Rally Driving Championship
Hollie McRae, daughter of the late rally champion Colin McRae, is making her mark in the motorsport world. She recently debuted as a driver in a rally driving championship, showcasing her passion for the sport.
Hollie’s Transition to Rally Driving
Initially known for her university blogging and social media presence, Hollie shifted her focus to motorsport media in 2022. She started her own media firm after finding opportunities to film at rally events. Now, she is a recognized figure at these events.
Recent Rally Event Participation
In September 2023, Hollie took a significant step in her journey. She sat as a co-driver for her grandfather, who is 82 years old, at the International McRae Rally Challenge held at Knockhill. This event was notable for several reasons:
- It commemorated the 50th anniversary of Jimmy McRae’s rallying career.
- It marked 30 years since Alister McRae won the British Rally Championship.
According to Hollie, her mother, Alison, initially had reservations about her involvement in driving. However, now she supports Hollie’s passion for the sport. “When I first started getting involved, Mum was like ‘Oh god, not another one, what are we going to do now?’,” Hollie recalled. Despite initial concerns, Alison has come to trust Hollie’s commitment to safety and enjoyment in motorsport.
Support from Family
Hollie McRae expresses gratitude for her mother’s support, stating, “She is my biggest supporter.” With Hollie’s recent entry into rally driving, her family’s legacy in the sport continues to thrive, inspiring a new generation of enthusiasts.
