About the College Football Playoff
The College Football Playoff (CFP) determines the national champion in college football. The selection committee ranks the top 25 teams at the end of the regular season. The top five conference champions and the next seven highest-ranked teams qualify for a 12-team playoff bracket.
The highest-ranked four teams receive first-round byes. Teams ranked 5 to 12 will clash in the CFP First Round, hosted by the higher seeds. The CFP Quarterfinals and Semifinals alternate among prestigious bowl games, including the Cotton Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, and others.
The College Football Playoff National Championship is scheduled for Monday, January 19, 2026, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
