Marvin Harrison Jr. Sidelined with Appendicitis Sunday
Marvin Harrison Jr., the standout wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals, will be sidelined for at least one game due to appendicitis. He underwent surgery on Monday night and was ruled out for the upcoming match against the San Francisco 49ers, according to Cardinals’ head coach Jonathan Gannon. The decision regarding the length of his absence remains uncertain.
Impact on the Cardinals’ Roster
In addition to Harrison, several other key players will also miss the game due to injuries:
- Mack Wilson Sr. – Linebacker, sidelined due to rib injuries.
- Baron Browning – Linebacker, currently in concussion protocol.
- Simi Fehoko – Wide receiver, placed on injured reserve after an arm injury sustained against the Seattle Seahawks.
Notably, the team also recently placed Zay Jones on injured reserve due to an Achilles injury. Gannon highlighted the unpredictability of injuries in the NFL, stating, “It’s life in the NFL. It’s our job to put a plan together, get the guys ready to go and compete and win.”
Injury Report Updates
Following the Cardinals’ recent loss to the Seahawks, which forced several players to exit the game, the injury list has significantly impacted the team’s lineup:
- Darius Robinson – Defensive lineman, groin injury.
- Dadrion Taylor-Demerson – Defensive lineman, ankle injury.
- Walter Nolen – Defensive lineman, knee injury.
- Bam Knight – Running back, questionable with an ankle injury.
- Jonah Williams – Right tackle, questionable with a shoulder injury.
Team Adjustments
In light of these injuries, Arizona has adjusted its practice schedule. A planned media-open practice has transitioned to a closed walkthrough to focus on recovery and preparation. Coach Gannon indicated that many injuries are being assessed on a day-to-day basis, including the status of running back Trey Benson, who is eligible to return from injured reserve but hasn’t had his return window activated yet.
The Cardinals’ ability to navigate these challenges will be critical as they prepare to face the 49ers in their next game.
