Cardinals’ WR Marvin Harrison Jr. Sidelined Sunday Against 49ers

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. will be unavailable for the game against the San Francisco 49ers. This follows his recent surgery for appendicitis, which took place on Monday. Head coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed this during a press briefing on Wednesday.

Injury Updates

When asked about the duration of Harrison’s absence, Gannon responded, “We’ll see,” indicating uncertainty regarding whether Harrison will miss just one game or more.

Additional Player Injuries

The Cardinals also face challenges with other players. Linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. will miss his second consecutive game due to a rib injury. Edge rusher Baron Browning is currently in concussion protocol.

Moreover, the wide receiver corps has been further depleted. Simi Fehoko, who is dealing with an arm injury, and Zay Jones, suffering from a torn Achilles, have both been placed on injured reserve. Consequently, the available wide receivers for Arizona include:

  • Michael Wilson
  • Greg Dortch
  • Xavier Weaver
  • Andre Baccellia

Andre Baccellia recently joined the team from the practice squad. Additional players on the practice squad include Jalen Brooks, Jalen Virgil, and Tejhaun Palmer.

Marvin Harrison Jr.’s Season Performance

Despite this setback, Harrison had previously made a strong impact this season. He has recorded:

  • 34 receptions
  • 525 receiving yards
  • 4 touchdowns

This season marks a significant year for Harrison, as he did not miss a single game last year, participating in all 17 games as a rookie. In the recent match against the Seattle Seahawks, he caught three passes on 12 targets for a total of 33 yards. His absence will certainly be felt as the Cardinals prepare for their upcoming matchup against the 49ers.
