Cambodia’s ACLEDA Partners with Singapore’s LiquidNet for Cross-Border QR Payments
On November 12, 2025, ACLEDA Bank Plc. officially launched the first phase of cross-border QR code payments between Cambodia and Singapore. This initiative, titled “Cambodia scans QR Codes in Singapore,” took place in Phnom Penh with the Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, presiding over the event. This collaboration involves ACLEDA Bank and Singapore’s Liquid Group Pte. Ltd.
Enhancing Payment Convenience
The launch allows Cambodian travelers in Singapore to make payments easily by scanning RoamQR codes at merchants that support SGQR. Users with Khmer Riel bank accounts can utilize the ACLEDA Super App for secure transactions. This service facilitates real-time payments and promotes the use of local currencies. It is a significant advancement for trade, investment, and tourism between both nations.
Previous Successes and Future Plans
ACLEDA Bank has prior experience with cross-border QR payments, having successfully launched similar services with Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, and Japan. The bank aims to expand this service to India and other regional partners in the near future. This latest deployment reinforces ACLEDA Bank’s commitment to enhancing financial connectivity.
Strategic Collaboration
The National Bank of Cambodia has designated ACLEDA Bank as the sponsoring bank for this QR payment project, in cooperation with the Monetary Authority of Singapore. This collaboration is a strategic move towards achieving payment interoperability across the ASEAN region, promoting inclusive digital economies and financial innovation through interoperable QR systems.
