Dan Ouchterlony, Head of Telenor Amp, emphasized that this consolidation unlocks scale and accelerates growth for Telenor’s customers in the Nordics and beyond.
Market Impact and Future Growth
- The global managed IoT market, excluding China, is projected to reach approximately USD 30 billion by 2030.
- In 2024, Telenor’s IoT division generated NOK 1.7 billion in revenue.
- Telenor aims to rank among the top five global IoT providers.
To achieve these goals, Telenor will integrate millions of SIM cards and significant recurring revenue streams into Telenor Connexion. This will cement Telenor’s leadership position in the Nordic market while adapting to changing market demands.
Local Presence and Enhanced Support
As part of the restructuring, Telenor will establish two new legal entities – Telenor IoT Oy in Finland and Telenor IoT A/S in Norway. This local presence will improve customer support and foster collaboration within the IoT sector. Mats Lundquist, CEO of Telenor Connexion, highlighted the importance of local investment, particularly in mission-critical IoT solutions.
Telenor’s Expanding IoT Ecosystem
Over the past two decades, Telenor has invested significantly in IoT, becoming one of the largest providers in the industry. The company recently celebrated the deployment of over 25 million IoT devices. These devices serve various applications, from automotive solutions to smart city initiatives.
Transition and Customer Assurance
The transition to the new operational structure is expected to be completed by January 2026. Telenor assures that there will be no disruption to existing services, and customers can expect the same high quality as before. The company will continue to innovate and enhance its IoT solutions.
Telenor’s consolidation strategy not only strengthens its position in the Nordic market but also sets the stage for future growth in the global IoT landscape.
