Pinto Inks 4-Year, $30 Million Deal with Senators

Shane Pinto has secured a significant four-year, $30 million contract with the Ottawa Senators. The deal, which averages $7.5 million per year, will take effect next season.

Key Contract Details

Pinto, celebrating his 25th birthday just a day before, could have entered restricted free agency after this season. His impressive performance includes 14 points, comprised of eight goals and six assists, over 17 games this season. Since joining the Senators in the 2020-21 season, he has accumulated a total of 121 points, including 59 goals and 62 assists, across 221 regular-season games.

Playoff Performance

In his playoff debut, Pinto recorded two points with one goal and one assist. This was part of a six-game series against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2025 Eastern Conference First Round.

Senators general manager Steve Staios emphasized Pinto’s value, stating, “Shane is an important part of our core and we are pleased to have him with us for the foreseeable future. This is a great opportunity for this group to grow together.”

International Experience

Pinto was selected by Ottawa in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft. He represented the United States at the IIHF World Championship, helping the team secure a gold medal in 2025.

Looking ahead, Pinto was invited to the orientation camp in Plymouth, Michigan, scheduled for August 26-27. This camp is aimed at determining the final 25-man roster for the upcoming Olympic Winter Games in Milan-Cortina 2026, set for February.
