Patriots Face Key Injuries in Final Report Before Jets Game

The New England Patriots are facing significant challenges ahead of their upcoming game against the New York Jets. Injuries have sidelined several key players, raising concerns about the team’s depth.

Injuries Impacting the Patriots

The Patriots have officially ruled out four crucial players for Thursday night’s matchup:

  • Austin Hooper – Tight end suffering from a concussion
  • Kayshon Boutte – Wide receiver with a hamstring issue
  • Christian Elliss – Linebacker dealing with a hip injury
  • Rhamondre Stevenson – Running back unable to play

Additionally, two players are currently listed as questionable:

  • Joshua Farmer – Defensive tackle with an ankle concern
  • Terrell Jennings – Running back facing a knee issue

Concerns at Tight End and Running Back

With Hooper out, the Patriots face a shortage at tight end. Hunter Henry is currently the only tight end on the active roster. Fullback Jack Westover has some experience at tight end and may be utilized. The team could also look to promote either Thomas Okukoya or CJ Dippre from the practice squad to shore up the position.

In the backfield, TreVeyon Henderson is the sole fully healthy running back. The Patriots also have three practice squad options available:

  • D’Ernest Johnson
  • Jonathan Ward
  • Rushawn Baker

Johnson has been elevated in back-to-back games and is expected to be moved to the active roster again. Additionally, Darius Harris could also be called up for the linebacker position as Elliss will be unavailable.

Final Preparations Before Game Time

The decisions on practice squad elevations will be confirmed Thursday afternoon. The Patriots will officially announce their inactive players at 6:45 p.m. ET on game day.
