Shogun Unveils Season 2 Cast Returning on FX and Hulu
FX’s acclaimed samurai drama “Shōgun” is gearing up for Season 2, which is set to begin production in Vancouver this January. This season promises to bring back several familiar faces from the inaugural season, continuing the epic narrative based on James Clavell’s bestselling novel.
Returning Cast Members for Season 2
Fans of “Shōgun” can look forward to seeing various characters reprise their roles. Hiroyuki Sanada will return as the feudal Japanese ruler Lord Toranaga, alongside Cosmo Jarvis, who plays the English sailor John Blackthorne. In addition to these two leads, eight other cast members from Season 1 will be back:
- Fumi Nikaidô as Lady Ochiba
- Shinnosuke Abe as Buntaro
- Hiroto Kanai as Omi
- Yoriko Dôguchi as Kiri
- Tommy Bastow as Alvito
- Yuko Miyamoto as Gin

It is important to note that certain key characters from the previous season, including Anna Sawai’s Mariko and Tananobu Asano’s Yabushige, will not return due to events that unfolded in Season 1.

Season 2 will also introduce five new cast members:

Originally deemed a limited series, FX expanded “Shōgun” for additional seasons, further enhancing its competitive edge in the drama categories.
