Patriots Unveil New Uniform on Thursday Night Football Tonight
The New England Patriots are set to unveil their new Nike “Rivalries” uniforms during a highly anticipated matchup against the New York Jets. This game, part of Thursday Night Football, begins at 8:15 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on Amazon Prime.
First Look at the “Rivalries” Uniforms
For the first time, the Patriots will sport their distinctive “Storm Blue” jerseys. This marks the introduction of this color scheme in the team’s history. The new design features white numbers accented with navy blue drop shadows and includes sublimated vertical striping reminiscent of the classic Drew Bledsoe-era jerseys worn from 1995 to 1999.
Design Features
The sleeves display a stacked “NE” logo inspired by nautical themes. Six red stars around the collar symbolize the six states of New England. Additionally, the iconic red Nike swoosh complements these elements.
- Shoulder Stripes: The Patriots maintain their familiar UCLA stripes, but with a truncated design.
- Pants Design: The white pants feature the same fishing net pattern as the shoulder stripes, referencing the coastal harbors.
- Helmet: A matte white helmet represents New England’s winter weather and showcases a silver version of the “Flying Elvis” logo.
Limited Season Use and Future Plans
The “Rivalries” uniforms are unique as they will only be worn once this season against divisional opponents. However, they will remain in the team’s uniform rotation for three seasons. The Patriots plan to expand the program to include games against other divisions in upcoming seasons.
- 2026: AFC South and NFC North
- 2027: AFC West and NFC East
- 2028: AFC North and AFC South
This marks the first league-wide uniform promotion since the Color Rush initiative, which took place from 2015 to 2017.
Game Day Preparations
Alongside the unveiling of the uniforms, the turf at Gillette Stadium will feature a matching field design. This includes the Patriots’ helmet logo positioned at the 50-yard line and “Storm Blue” end zones complete with the team’s wordmark.
This is a significant moment for the franchise, as it is the first time since 1990 that the end zones will be fully painted for an event other than Super Bowl appearances or international games. Fans can look forward to a vibrant display that complements the new aesthetic of the “Rivalries” uniforms.
