Canadiens’ Newhook Faces Four-Month Ankle Injury; Guhle Out 8-10 Weeks

The Montreal Canadiens reported significant injury updates for their roster. Forward Alex Newhook underwent surgery for a fractured ankle and is anticipated to be sidelined for four months. Meanwhile, defenseman Kaiden Guhle has also had surgery due to a partially torn abductor muscle and will be out for eight to ten weeks.

Injury Details

The injuries occurred during recent games, impacting the Canadiens’ lineup. Newhook’s injury took place early in the second period during a match against the Dallas Stars. He was taken down by defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin while vying for the puck, resulting in a feet-first slide into the end boards. Lyubushkin received a minor penalty for the infraction.

Newhook had to be assisted off the ice and did not return to the game. Guhle, on the other hand, sustained his injury during the third period of the game against the Nashville Predators on October 17.

Expected Recovery Times

  • Alex Newhook: Out for four months due to a fractured ankle.
  • Kaiden Guhle: Expected to miss 8-10 weeks with a partially torn abductor muscle.

The team will need to navigate the challenges posed by these injuries as they aim to maintain their performance during the upcoming weeks.
