Dean Huijsen to Miss Spain Game Due to Groin Injury; Further Scans Needed
Real Madrid’s Dean Huijsen has been sidelined due to a groin injury sustained during international duty with Spain. The 20-year-old defender was not included in the matchday squad for the World Cup qualifying game against Georgia on Saturday.
Details of Huijsen’s Injury
The injury occurred during a training session on Friday. As a precaution, he was left out of the squad for the qualifying match. Huijsen has already played twice for Spain in their World Cup qualifiers, completing the full 90 minutes in victories over Bulgaria and Turkey in September.
Impact on Huijsen’s Availability
Due to this recent groin issue, Huijsen also had to withdraw from Spain’s October fixtures, missing key matches against Georgia and Bulgaria. In his absence, fellow defenders Aymeric Laporte and Robin Le Normand partnered in the center-back position.
Huijsen’s Season with Real Madrid
This season, Huijsen has made a total of 13 appearances for Real Madrid following his £50 million transfer from Bournemouth. Unfortunately, his injury has also kept him from participating in matches against both Juventus and Getafe.
Other Injury Updates
In addition to Huijsen, teammates Kylian Mbappe and Eduardo Camavinga withdrew from France’s squad due to injury. Mbappe is dealing with inflammation in his right ankle, while Camavinga has a muscle strain in his left hamstring. Both are expected to return in time for a match against Elche on November 23.
Spain’s World Cup Qualification Status
Currently, Spain leads its World Cup qualifying group and can secure a spot for the next summer tournament with a victory against Georgia. Meanwhile, Turkey, in second place, is struggling, having lost all four of its qualifying matches. If Turkey defeats Bulgaria, Spain will have the opportunity to guarantee automatic qualification in their upcoming match against Turkey on Tuesday.
