Limp Bizkit Concert in Estonia Canceled Over Fred Durst’s Putin Support
Limp Bizkit’s much-anticipated concert in Estonia has been canceled due to the resurfacing of frontman Fred Durst’s past support for Russian President Vladimir Putin. The nu-metal band was set to perform at the Unibet Arena in Tallinn on May 31, 2026. This show, which was only recently announced, faced immediate cancellation by the promoter, Baltic Live Agency.
Cancellation Reasons and Official Statements
In a statement, Baltic Live Agency expressed regret, stating, “We inform you that due to circumstances beyond the organiser’s control, the Limp Bizkit concert planned for May 31, 2026 is cancelled. Our apologies.” The cancellation is largely attributed to Durst’s controversial remarks about Russia and Putin that have resurfaced.
Estonia’s ERR news agency highlighted that the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken a firm stance regarding any support for Russia. The Ministry emphasized that there is no place in Estonia for such endorsements, underlining the nation’s independence from Russian control since 1991.
Controversial Support for Putin
- Fred Durst had previously showcased support for Putin, holding a sign that read “Crimea=Russia” during a performance.
- This sign references the Crimea region, which was annexed by Russia in 2014, a move not recognized by most nations.
- Durst once praised Putin, calling him “a great guy with clear moral principles.”
The situation escalated after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, leading to increased scrutiny of individuals expressing support for the Kremlin. A spokesperson from Estonia’s Ministry further reaffirmed their stance, stating, “Estonia supports Ukraine’s territorial integrity, and every last centimeter of Ukrainian territory belongs to Ukraine.”
Recent Tragedy for the Band
This cancellation comes on the heels of a significant loss for Limp Bizkit, as their bassist, Sam Rivers, passed away at the age of 48 last month. The band is currently navigating these challenges against the backdrop of public and political pressure related to their frontman’s past statements.
