In a significant display of skill, the Georgia Bulldogs secured a 35-10 victory over Texas in their home stadium. This triumph improved Georgia’s overall record to 9-1 and concluded their Southeastern Conference (SEC) play with a strong 7-1 performance. As a result, Georgia climbed to the No. 4 position in the Coaches Poll for Week 13.

Georgia Ranks as Highest One-Loss Team

The Bulldogs now stand as the highest-ranked one-loss team nationally, following Alabama’s recent defeat to Oklahoma. Currently, the top three teams—Ohio State, Indiana, and Texas A&M—remained undefeated in their seasons.

Fourth Quarter Dominance

Georgia’s victory was notably marked by their dominance in the fourth quarter, where they outscored Texas 21-0. Coach Kirby Smart emphasized the team’s relentless focus on physicality and preparation. “We’re gonna dominate and try to win the fourth quarter,” he stated, highlighting the importance of recruiting physical players who align with the team’s core values.

Looking Ahead for Georgia

Despite finishing SEC competition, Georgia still has upcoming matchups against Charlotte and the 16th-ranked Georgia Tech. Currently, they hold the No. 5 spot in the College Football Playoff rankings, with updates to be released soon.

This season, Georgia surpassed their prior year’s conference record, which led to an SEC Championship win. However, the Bulldogs must rely on other teams’ performances to secure a spot in the SEC Championship game for the fifth consecutive year. Specifically, Georgia needs either Texas A&M or Alabama to lose their next games—A&M will face Texas, and Alabama will compete against Auburn. Alternatively, other scenarios could allow Georgia to advance without these losses, depending on winning percentages of their rivals.
