Jeffery Simmons Criticizes Titans for Frequent False Starts

Titans defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons expressed his frustration following the team’s recent performance against the Texans. The team is struggling with frequent false starts, a penalty that has become a repeated issue.

Jeffery Simmons Addresses False Starts

After another disappointing drive in the tight game, Simmons confronted his offensive teammates on the sideline. He was vocal about the need for improvement, specifically criticizing the offense for their performance at home. “I’m tired of sugarcoating it,” Simmons stated. “We need to be better, especially at home. Can’t have that many false starts.”

Persistent Penalties

In the loss to the Texans, the Titans accumulated five false starts. Right tackle JC Latham contributed to three of those penalties. Latham noted a cadence issue, which quarterback Cam Ward also acknowledged. This problem isn’t isolated; Simmons pointed out that the offense also recorded four false starts during Friday’s practice. Overall, the Titans committed nine penalties during the game, including a 15-yard unnecessary roughness call against Simmons.

Game Outcome and Season Status

The Titans narrowly lost the game 16-13, thanks to a last-minute field goal from Texans kicker Matthew Wright. This defeat dropped their season record to 1-9, underscoring the challenges the team faces moving forward. Simmons returned to the lineup after sitting out two games due to a hamstring injury, bringing added pressure to perform.

“We fought all the way back from injuries because the team means so much to us,” Simmons concluded. “Everyone needs to adopt a better approach. We’re grown men and have a job to do. We need to face every day with a positive attitude.”
