I’m A Celeb Medics Alerted to Dangerous Humidity Levels in Camp
Medics in the Australian jungle have been placed on high alert due to alarming humidity levels recorded at the I’m A Celeb camp. As contestants arrived ahead of the show’s launch, officials expressed concern over the abnormally high moisture levels, particularly for Jack Osbourne, who has multiple sclerosis.
Dangerous Humidity Levels in the Jungle
Humidity levels soared to 90% in Dungay, New South Wales, far exceeding the typical humidity for this time of year, which raises serious health concerns. Today’s temperature is expected to reach 33°C (92°F), with high temperatures forecasted for the entire week.
- Current Humidity: 90%
- Normal Levels: 70%
- Temperature Forecast: 33°C (92°F)
The intense conditions can lead to dehydration, heat stress, and increased strain on the heart and blood vessels. For Osbourne specifically, the heat can exacerbate multiple sclerosis symptoms, complicating his experience in the camp.
Health Risks for Campmates
The humid environment poses additional risks, such as the presence of leeches, snakes, and ticks. Campmates, including Osbourne, model Kelly Brook, and former Lioness Alex Scott, have had little time to acclimate to the harsh climate.
A source close to the situation noted, “The celebs have been hit with some of the worst Australia has to offer this year. It’ll be seriously uncomfortable just to breathe.”
Precautions Implemented
The medical team has implemented several measures to mitigate health risks, including the use of cooling towels activated by water. They are prepared for such challenging conditions, having anticipated the potential dangers of extreme humidity.
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society highlights that high humidity can worsen various symptoms of the disease. Fatigue, blurred vision, and numbness can become more pronounced in such environments.
