Bayern Welcomes CanMNT’s Davies Back to Training
Alphonso Davies, a key player for the Canadian men’s national team, has returned to training with Bayern Munich. The club made the announcement on social media, marking a significant step in Davies’ recovery.
Bayern Munich Welcomes Back Alphonso Davies
Davies, who is 25 years old, had been training independently since suffering an ACL tear in March. This injury occurred during a match against the United States while he represented Canada. His fitness is crucial as Canada prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Coach’s Optimism for Upcoming Matches
Bayern’s head coach, Vincent Kompany, expressed optimism about Davies’ recovery. In a statement from October 17, Kompany indicated that Davies might return by December. He initially hoped for a January comeback, but recent progress suggests an earlier return could be possible.
If Davies participates in a few games in December, it would demonstrate the team’s effective rehabilitation efforts. Kompany mentioned, “If things continue to go well, then we might have a very, very fit Alphonso Davies back by then.”
Davies’ Progress Report
Davies shared insights into his training experience, stating, “I’m running and training well.” He noted the need to increase muscle mass in his right leg. Reflecting on the severity of his injury, he said, “When the doctors told me how long it could take after the injury, I thought: ‘Wow, that’s going to be a long journey.’ But it’s all looking good now.”
