Daniel Radcliffe Shares Heartfelt Letter to New Harry Potter Actor

Daniel Radcliffe, known for his role as Harry Potter in the original film series, recently shared a heartfelt message with the young actor set to portray the iconic wizard in HBO’s upcoming TV adaptation. Dominic McLaughlin, who has been cast in the lead role, received a warm letter from Radcliffe after his announcement.

Radcliffe’s Message to the New Harry Potter Actor

In an appearance on Good Morning America, Radcliffe expressed his support for McLaughlin, wishing him and his fellow cast members a fantastic experience. He reminisced about his own journey, having started at a similar age when he began filming the Harry Potter movies. Radcliffe wrote to McLaughlin, saying he hopes he enjoys an even better time than he did during his tenure.

The Young Cast of HBO’s Series

Alongside McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The trio was officially announced in May, selected from over 30,000 children who auditioned last year.

  • Dominic McLaughlin – Harry Potter
  • Arabella Stanton – Hermione Granger
  • Alastair Stout – Ron Weasley
  • Lox Pratt – Draco Malfoy
  • Alessia Leoni – Parvati Patil
  • Leo Earley – Seamus Finnigan
  • Rory Wilmot – Neville Longbottom
  • Amos Kitson – Dudley Dursley

Notably, McLaughlin has prior experience in the Sky comedy “Grow,” and Stanton previously starred as Matilda in a West End musical. Stout, however, is a newcomer to acting.

The Adult Cast and Production Details

The series will also feature well-known actors including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore and Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall. Paapa Essiedu will portray Severus Snape, while Nick Frost takes on the role of Rubeus Hagrid.

Currently, filming for the first series is underway, with a planned release date in 2027. However, it is expected that completing the entire adaptation, covering all seven of J.K. Rowling’s books, will take a total of ten years. To facilitate the education of the young actors, Warner Bros Studios in Leavesden has received approval to construct a temporary school.

The anticipation for this series continues to grow as fans look forward to a fresh take on the beloved Harry Potter franchise.
