According to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), the collision began when a westbound driver on Sherbrooke Street attempted to avoid an oncoming vehicle making a left turn onto Réal-Benoit Street.
This initial impact led to the involvement of two additional vehicles, including a public transport bus from STM, whose passengers were unharmed.
