Afghan National Admits to Raping 12-Year-Old Girl in Nuneaton

An Afghan national, Ahmad Mulakhil, has pleaded guilty to raping a 12-year-old girl in Nuneaton. The 23-year-old changed his plea during a court appearance at Warwick Crown Court on a recent Friday. This incident occurred on July 22.

Details of the Case

Mulakhil had previously denied multiple charges, including abduction and sexual assault of a minor. Alongside him was co-defendant Mohammad Kabir, also 23, who has denied related charges, including aiding and abetting rape. Both defendants are Afghan nationals and required interpreters during the court proceedings.

Court Proceedings

  • Defendants: Ahmad Mulakhil and Mohammad Kabir
  • Charges:
    • One count of raping a child under 13
    • Three counts of rape
    • Two counts of sexual assault
    • Abducting a child (denied by Mulakhil)
    • Intentional strangulation (denied by Kabir)
  • Court Date: January 26 for trial
  • Custody Status: Both men are remanded in custody until the trial.

On the day Mulakhil changed his plea, he confirmed his name and admitted to the rape charge. Kabir only confirmed his identity during the proceedings. Judge Kristina Montgomery KC presided over the case.

Public Reaction

The serious nature of the allegations has sparked significant public outcry. Protests took place outside Nuneaton’s Town Hall on August 9. Demonstrators, waving St George’s Cross and Union Jack flags, demanded action against illegal immigration, chanting slogans such as “Stop the boats” and “We want our country back.”

As the case progresses, it continues to raise important discussions surrounding child safety and legal accountability in cases of sexual assault in the UK.
