Bears Place RB Johnson and LB Edmunds on Injured Reserve
Injuries Impacting Bears’ Roster
Tremaine Edmunds, who suffered a groin injury during a narrow 19-17 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on November 16, will not participate in the upcoming Week 12 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Despite finishing the game, the 27-year-old linebacker did not practice during the week and has officially been ruled out.
This injury presents a considerable challenge for the Bears’ defense. They will also be missing T.J. Edwards, who is dealing with hand and hamstring issues, and Noah Sewell, who has an elbow injury. Edmunds currently ranks second in the NFL for interceptions with four and leads the Bears in tackles, totaling 89, a significant contribution to the team’s defensive efforts.
Upcoming Defensive Strategy
- Tremaine Edmunds: 4 interceptions, 89 tackles.
- T.J. Edwards: Injured (hand/hamstring).
- Noah Sewell: Injured (elbow), with 55 tackles.
The Bears will rely on linebacker D’Marco Jackson and Ruben Hyppolite IV to step up against the Steelers. Both have shared a modest total of 50 defensive snaps this season. Additionally, reserve linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga will provide support, alongside Jalen Reeves-Maybin, who was recently signed to the practice squad.
Running Back Roschon Johnson’s Situation
Meanwhile, Roschon Johnson has struggled with multiple injuries, including a thumb issue that hindered his practice time leading into Week 12. In response to these injuries, the Bears have signed running back Brittain Brown and linebacker Carl Jones Jr. to strengthen their roster.
Edmunds is eligible for a return ahead of the Bears’ critical matchup against the Green Bay Packers on December 20, potentially reviving the team’s defensive line-up.
