Maggie Hamed Joins Pace University Volleyball, Signs from Owego Free Academy
Owego Free Academy standout Maggie Hamed is set to join the Pace University volleyball team for the upcoming season. The recent commitment was announced on a Monday afternoon, marking an exciting new chapter for the senior athlete.
Impressive High School Career
During her tenure at Owego Free Academy, Hamed achieved remarkable success. She recorded a total of:
- 1,064 kills
- 143 aces
- 457 digs
Her exceptional contributions helped the River Hawks secure five division titles. Additionally, her team was crowned STAC champions twice and earned four sectional titles in Class A volleyball.
Individual Accolades
Hamed’s individual accolades are equally impressive. She has been recognized with several honors throughout her high school career:
- All-Conference team for four consecutive seasons
- NYS Class A Tournament team selection in the previous year
- Fourth Team All-State recognition in 2023
- Greater Binghamton Player of the Year in 2023
Choosing Pace University
In making her decision to join Pace University, Hamed expressed that the institution aligns with her academic and athletic aspirations. She noted the strong academic programs available and the supportive volleyball team as key factors in her choice. “I fell in love with the girls, and my coach Amanda Wilkins is amazing,” said Hamed. “I just feel like I can grow so much as a person and an athlete there.”
Future Plans
Maggie Hamed plans to major in psychology and sociology. Her career goal is to work as a clinical psychologist in children’s hospitals, demonstrating her commitment to both education and helping others.
