Virginia High School Coach Sought on Child Pornography Charges
Authorities are currently searching for a high school football coach from Virginia who has become a fugitive amid serious allegations. Travis Turner, aged 46, is wanted on charges related to child pornography and soliciting a minor.

Turner, who resides in Appalachia, Virginia, is a physical education teacher and also serves as the head football coach at Union High School in Wise County. Virginia State Police reported that he is facing charges involving the possession of child sexual abuse material and using a computer to solicit a minor.
Last Thursday, police visited Turner’s home during an ongoing investigation, but he was not present. Since his disappearance, law enforcement agencies have deployed drones and search teams in an attempt to locate him. A spokesperson for Virginia State Police stated, “VSP’s main priority is locating Turner safely; he is now considered a fugitive.” Ten warrants have been issued for his arrest, with additional charges expected.
School Response and Current Status
Wise County Public Schools released a statement indicating they are aware of the situation involving a staff member, though they did not identify Turner specifically. He has been placed on administrative leave, which means he cannot access school property or interact with students during this investigation.
Mike Goforth, the division superintendent, confirmed that the school is cooperating with law enforcement. “We cannot comment further due to the active legal matter,” he said.
Turner’s Last Known Appearance
According to Virginia’s missing persons database, Travis Turner was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, sweatpants, and glasses. While the football team at Union High School continues to compete, they have advanced to the Virginia regional final, maintaining an undefeated record of 12-0 during the season.
With the situation evolving, authorities urge anyone with information regarding Turner’s whereabouts to come forward to assist in the investigation.
