Buffalo’s Christian Benford Honored as Week 13 NFLPA Community MVP

Christian Benford, a cornerback for the Buffalo Bills, has been honored as the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) Community MVP for Week 13. This recognition follows his commendable efforts in hosting a Thanksgiving Celebration at Community Missions of Niagara Frontier.

Thanksgiving Celebration Event

Benford organized a heartwarming event that provided meals and essential winter items to 300 families in need. His $5,000 contribution, along with support from his nonprofit, the 47 Hearts Foundation, ensured attendees received a “winter kindness kit.” This kit included items like:

  • Lip balm
  • Hat
  • Gloves
  • Hand warmers
  • Body warmers
  • Snacks

These provisions are critical for vulnerable individuals facing the harsh winter months in Western New York.

Benford’s Contribution to the Community

Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Benford stated, “Being named Community MVP is an honor that means more than words.” His motivation stems from a desire to spread kindness and love within the community.

This Thanksgiving event is part of Benford’s extensive commitment to giving back. Earlier this year, he published his first children’s book, “Stylish Safari: The Adventures of Being You.” The story encourages self-acceptance and kindness through the adventures of a fashionable bobcat.

Ongoing Initiatives

Throughout the year, Benford has engaged in numerous initiatives, including:

  • Conducting a children’s literacy day and book signing at Crane Branch Library.
  • Leading a free youth football camp for 100 children at his former school in Randallstown, Maryland.
  • Partnering with local organizations to distribute backpacks and school supplies during back-to-school events.

Each initiative showcases his dedication to literacy, education, and empowering youth in the community.

Recognition and Further Support

As the Week 13 NFLPA Community MVP, Benford’s selected nonprofit will receive a $10,000 donation from the NFL Players Association. He is also a contender for the prestigious Alan Page Community Award, which includes an additional $100,000 donation.

Fans who wish to support the 47 Hearts Foundation can now contribute through a new partnership with GoFundMe. All donations are tax-deductible and will directly benefit the foundation’s initiatives.
