Naomi Gates Joins WHIZ and Fox 5 with Marquee Broadcasting
Naomi Gates, affectionately known as “Naomi”, passed away on November 29, 2025, at her residence in Zanesville. Born on May 18, 1937, to Evelyn and Chester Roberts, she lived a life full of cherished moments and close relationships.
Passions and Hobbies
Naomi was known for her enthusiasm for bingo. She often attended games with her daughter, grandchildren, and lifelong friends. Besides bingo, she enjoyed playing Euchre at popular local venues, including Rokeby Lock and The Eagles. Television game shows and the series *Pitbulls and Parolees* were among her favorite pastimes.
Family and Legacy
Throughout her life, Naomi experienced profound loss. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sandy Radcliff and her beloved son Jamie Gates Jr., along with several siblings. Naomi’s family tree includes:
- Daughters: Sherry Padgett (Tom), Brenda Jewell (Terry), Christy Gates
- Grandchildren: Paul Jewell (Patricia), Danny, Amy Sindeldecker (Jeff and Cindy), Tiffany Jewell (Rodney), and more
- Great-grandchildren: Thirty-two in total, with two on the way
- Great-great-grandchildren: Four
- Sister-in-law: Chris Gates
- Friends: Peggy Evans (Ronnie) and her devoted dog, Jingles
Commemoration and Service
In honoring Naomi’s wishes, a cremation has been arranged. The family plans to hold a memorial service in her memory at a future date, details of which will be announced later. Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls is responsible for the arrangements.
