Dave Coulier Announces New Cancer Diagnosis Following Lymphoma Remission

Dave Coulier, the beloved star of Full House, has recently announced a new cancer diagnosis. This comes just months after he finished treatment for non-Hodgkin lymphoma. His latest diagnosis involves early-stage tongue cancer, specifically P16 squamous carcinoma.

New Cancer Diagnosis

In a revealing interview on the Today show, Coulier shared details about his health. He explained that he underwent a routine PET scan, which unexpectedly revealed an issue at the base of his tongue. “I went in for a PET scan, just a routine check-up, and something flared on the PET scan,” he stated. This new cancer is unrelated to his previous lymphoma.

History of Cancer

Coulier had been diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in November of the previous year. Earlier this year, he celebrated being cancer-free after completing his treatment. The contrast between feeling the relief of remission and receiving a new cancer diagnosis was a shocking experience for him.

Prognosis and Early Detection

Despite the challenges, Coulier’s prognosis is positive. The curability rate for his type of tongue cancer is over 90%. He emphasized the importance of early detection, saying, “Early detection saved my life, not just the first time but the second time as well.” He urged others to prioritize their health by getting regular checkups, such as colonoscopies and prostate exams.

Emotional Toll on Family

Experiencing two different cancer diagnoses within a short period has taken an emotional toll on Coulier and his family. He expressed concern for his wife, Melissa, noting that the situation is psychologically draining for both of them. “It’s also a big drain on my wife,” he said.

Finding Hope

Despite the challenges, Coulier remains hopeful. He acknowledged that having previously been diagnosed with cancer led to the detection of his tongue cancer. “Had I not gone in and listened to my doctors… we would have never found this carcinoma,” he stated. Coulier is committed to fighting this new diagnosis and encourages others to stay vigilant about their health.
