Dave Coulier Diagnosed with Tongue Cancer Following Lymphoma Struggle

Dave Coulier, famously known for his role as Uncle Joey on “Full House,” is facing a new health challenge. The 66-year-old comedian revealed a diagnosis of tongue cancer just months after overcoming lymphoma.

Diagnosis of Tongue Cancer

Coulier announced his diagnosis of P16 squamous carcinoma during an appearance on NBC’s “Today.” This revelation follows his earlier battle with Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which he made public in October of the previous year.

Health Journey

The comedian shared that a routine PET scan led to the discovery of the carcinoma. After noticing a flare-up on the scan, doctors conducted a biopsy at the base of his tongue. Initially, this biopsy returned negative for cancer.

However, upon further monitoring, the growth increased in size. A second biopsy, which involved removing a larger piece of tissue, ultimately confirmed the presence of cancerous cells.

Treatment Plan and Prognosis

Coulier is currently undergoing 35 rounds of radiation therapy to treat the tongue cancer. He expects to complete his treatment by December 31. According to his medical team, the prognosis for P16 squamous carcinoma is promising, with a curability rate exceeding 90%.

Link to HPV

During his discussion, Coulier mentioned that the cancer might be linked to a past HPV virus infection. Doctors indicated that this virus could have activated over 30 years later, leading to the carcinoma.

Support and Advocacy

Throughout his health challenges, Coulier has received immense support from fans and colleagues alike. His “Full House” co-star, John Stamos, expressed his encouragement through social media, calling him “my man!!”

In response to his health struggles, Coulier founded AwearMarket, focusing on non-toxic products to promote health and well-being. He aims to replace harmful products with safer alternatives, stemming from his own experiences with toxicity.

The Importance of Early Detection

Reflecting on his journey, Coulier emphasized the importance of early detection in both of his cancer battles. He encouraged regular health checks, including prostate exams and mammograms, highlighting their role in saving lives.
