Biting Cold Front Hits Québec
A severe cold front is gripping Québec, bringing biting cold and fluctuating weather conditions across the province. Residents are advised to don their winter gear as temperatures plunge, particularly in regions outside the east.
Biting Cold Front Impacts Québec’s Weather
This Thursday, freezing temperatures and intermittent snowfall are anticipated in various parts of the province. In southwestern Québec, brief periods of sunshine will offer a momentary respite from the harsh weather.
Temperature Forecast
- Most regions forecast negative double-digit temperatures.
- Montréal may observe occasional snowfall in the morning.
- Strong winds reaching up to 60 km/h may exacerbate cold conditions.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, central parts of the province can expect between 2 to 4 centimeters of snow. However, Estrie will experience heavier precipitation. These conditions will lead to a more significant wind chill, especially in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean area, where temperatures could drop to -17°C in the afternoon.
Weather Conditions Across Regions
While eastern Québec remains relatively mild, certain areas will still receive significant snowfall. Particular attention should be paid to regions in Gaspésie and Côte-Nord, where similar snowfall amounts are likely.
The week will conclude with a promising return of sunshine almost everywhere in Québec. However, parts of western Québec and potentially the Saguenay may continue to face less favorable weather.
