Brad White Joins Sumrall’s Staff as Defensive Coordinator
Jon Sumrall, the head coach of the University of Florida’s football team, has announced an important addition to his coaching staff. Brad White, a highly regarded defensive coach, has been appointed as the new defensive coordinator.
Brad White’s Coaching Experience
White brings substantial experience from his previous roles. For the past eight seasons, he served at the University of Kentucky, where he held the position of defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach. Under his leadership, Kentucky became a prominent force in college football, making six bowl appearances during his tenure.
Defensive Achievements
From 2018 to 2025, White’s defenses consistently ranked among the best in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). Key statistics include:
- Scoring Defense: 22.1 points per game, ranking within the top 20 FBS teams.
- Total Defense: Averaged 344.1 yards per game, also in the top 20.
- Red Zone Defense: Ranked 6th in the FBS in 2024 with a 70.8% efficiency.
